Accused shooter assessed

A Waikato man who allegedly shot a cafe worker in the head has been remanded for a mental-health assessment. The man, 67, has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. His name is suppressed. The victim is in Waikato Hospital’s high dependency unit in a serious but stable condition.
