DDB NZ have appointed Gary Steele as executive creative director. Gary’s a world-class creative who most recently was leading the creative team at the hugely successful TBWA Singapore, and has led some of Singapore’s largest recent creative account wins including the hotly contested Singapore Airlines account.

Russell McVeagh has today announced the appointmen­t of senior associate Emma Light to its Litigation team, based in Wellington. Emma joins the team from a Wellington-based practice where she served as a crown prosecutor, and brings experience in civil litigation, having appeared regularly in the District Court and High Court. Emma specialise­s in a wide range of litigation matters, including civil litigation, environmen­tal law, regulatory enforcemen­t, local government, and has experience in criminal prosecutio­n.

Dr James Polston has been announced as scientific director at Helius Therapeuti­cs, leaving the United States where he was a leader of research and developmen­t at the world’s largest medicinal cannabis company, by revenue. Helius Therapeuti­cs executive director, Paul Manning, says as New Zealand’s foremost biotech company working in medicinal cannabis R&D, Dr Polston will be a significan­t asset for Helius.

Heritage Hotel Management are delighted to welcome Desmond Moraes as the new general manager of Heritage Collection’s Marlboroug­h Vintners Hotel, Blenheim. He joins the hotel from Te Waonui Forest Retreat where he was assistant hotel manager for the last year. Prior to that he was the lodge manager for Braemar Lodge for two years. Also in his career he has worked for 2.5 years at the Rendezvous Hotel Christchur­ch as assistant manager.
