Toyota NZ stays true to series
A new livery, a new car, a new era, but the same commitment to motor sport in New Zealand.
Toyota NZ has pledged continued dedication to the international face of the sport here by making yet another huge investment in the Castrol Toyota Racing Series (TRS).
The new FT-60 brings the series up to date with a new power unit package comprising a 2-litre turbocharged direct injection engine. That engine has been adapted and developed by TNZ and master engine builder David Gouk.
The Formula 1 ‘Halo’ driver crash protection system makes its first appearance here as an integral part of the FT-60, with improved chassis driver protection and twin wheel tethers, an upgrade ensuring the wheels stay attached to the car in a crash.
Toyota Racing NZ is becoming Toyota Gazoo Racing NZ, the name for Toyota’s racing arm. Gazoo — the literal meaning is “picture” or “garage” in Japanese — is the umbrella name for all those racing activities.
