Sweet deal for teachers
Teachers are welcoming a new sweeter deal being offered by the Government, saying it goes a long way to addressing their concerns over pay and working conditions. Primary and secondary unions are recommending members accept the offer, which includes an extra $271 million to address pay parity. The offer also includes a lump sum payment of $1500 for union members and a new top step salary rate of $90,000. Education Minister Chris Hipkins said: “I’m now confident this will draw the matter to a close.”
