THE ENERGISER

Sub-penthouse on the 33rd floor of the Metropolis building is given a vibrant makeover, writes SANDRA GOODWIN

-

The sub-penthouse on level 33 in the Metropolis building was once the home of its developer, Andrew Krukziener.

Since then lawyer Warwick Wright and his wife Christina have transformed it.

“Our vision was to make it as open plan, light and sunny as possible, extending the stud height considerably and even incorporating some sliding walls to make its big spaces even bigger,” says Warwick.

The Wrights bought the 239sq m apartment in 2016, leaving behind a house in Remuera.

Says Christina: “We’ve found it truly energising living here with the views constantly beckoning us to go out and make the most of all the delights around us.”

Architectural designer Fraser Horton and interior designer Rufus Knight reworked the residence, with its French oak floors and huge windows.

The open-plan living expanse features abundant art, some by the couple’s New Yorkbased artist daughter, and a long dining table and multiple seating areas.

The master bedroom has balcony, en suite, walk-in war drobe — and a sliding wall to lengthen views.

There’s another sliding wall between two other bedrooms. A second balcony, bathroom, laundry and good storage complete the floor-plan.

The Wrights have two car parks plus use of the pool, gym and concierge facilities.

Three of their four children and all their grandchildren live in Melbourne, so the couple plan to downsize and own both inner-city Auckland and Melbourne apartments.

Ray White Remuera agent Ross Tierney says: "This stunning, bespoke apartment exudes beauty and is the gateway to your vibrant lifestyle as it overlooks so much surrounding cultural beauty — the very best art galleries, theatres and restaurants in the city.”
