Four people hurt in four-car smash
Four people were injured, some seriously, in a four-car crash on State Highway 29 in Tauriko near Tauranga yesterday.
Emergency services were called to the scene at the intersection of SH29 and SH36 at 3.17pm.
A St John spokeswoman said three ambulance crews were dispatched. Two people in a serious condition and another in a moderate condition were taken to Tauranga Hospital.
A fourth person was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
A police spokeswoman said both lanes were blocked, causing traffic delays.
In a separate incident, one person died after two motorbikes crashed around the same time near Whakata¯ne. The other biker suffered minor injuries in the crash at 3.15pm on Bell Rd in Nukuhou, south of O¯ hope. Bay of Plenty Times
