Agencies win big at RICS
Bayleys Real Estate won the top award at the 2020 RICS Awards.
Bayleys South Auckland Commercial was named agency team of the year at the ceremony, which honoured and celebrated the most inspirational initiatives and developments in land, real estate, construction and infrastructure in New Zealand.
CBRE's head of research Zoltan Moricz was awarded Property Professional of the Year and Colliers International won Facilities Management Team of the Year.
RICS Managing Director for South East Asia, Australasia and Japan Chris Nicholl said a record number of submissions were received for this year’s awards, with New Zealand’s leading companies across land, real estate and commercial property all providing strong nominations.
Lloyd Budd, Bayleys director of Auckland Commercial and Industrial, said of Bayleys’ win: “We are really proud to get the award and we worked hard to get it.”
Budd said the award aligned with Bayleys' values and reflected the team approach the agency took, from property agents to marketing and assistance. “It’s truly all about team effort,” he said.
Andrew Stringer, CBRE senior managing director New Zealand, said Moricz was a highly respected individual who delivered dynamic, innovative and exceptional results. “Recognition by the RICS of his excellence is extremely well-deserved.”
The RICS judging panel praised Mr Moricz’s longstanding leadership in property research in New Zealand along with his very impressive list of major research and consultancy work for significant clients.
Colliers said corporate solutions was instrumental in the client’s corporate property strategy in Wellington following the 2016 Kaikoura earthquake, which took out a number of sites.
Don Smith, national director of Corporate Solutions at Colliers, said: “The RICS Awards are in the top echelon of property awards and to be recognised by our peers is a great honour, which is a testament to the hard work of the whole team in providing the service we do.”
