Van’s load wipes out truck

A Wellington man is lucky to be alive after an unsecured load fell off a van on the motorway and hit his vehicle. The 20-year-old scaffolder was driving his work truck between Upper and Lower Hutt yesterday when a heavy load of poles fell from a van travelling in the opposite direction and hit his vehicle, crushing the windscreen and scattering shards of glass. The man was at home and in shock last night, with only a few cuts. The truck was written off.
