RS STORIES

-

My first RS drive was at Bathurst, leading 30 V8 Supercars! Audi supplied the safety car in 2003, an RS6 sedan, and I drove the twinturbo V8 for a story, setting the pace for the field on the Saturday. It was remarkably unremarkable, control-limited to 80km/h.

The first Audi RS I drove was actually . . . the first Audi RS: the awesome RS2 Avant with engine, suspension and brakes tweaked by Porsche. It was the first properly fast car I ever drove, to be honest, back in my first year of motoring writing in 1994.

My most memorable Audi RS experience came from helping with logistics last year. Dean tossed me the keys to the RS6, and asked me to go and swap it for the RS7. I thought all of my Christmases had come at once.
