Top-performing cafe at mall for sale
The Coffee Club in Westfield Manukau City is one of the brand's top-performing cafes and has been one of the mall’s busiest hospitality businesses for many years.
The business is being sold by Nick Giles of Link Business Broking, who says: “The current owner has been there for just over four years and has a very genuine reason to sell. He actually doesn't want to sell as the business has been very good to him but family matters call for a sale.”
The cafe sits at Westfield Manukau City’s main entrance, with access within and from outside the mall. It has seating both inside and outside under cover.
“The cafe enjoys weekly sales of around $35,000 and coffee usage of 45kg,” Giles says. “The business is run under management with the current owner overseeing operations and ensuring that costs are well controlled.
“He has done a fantastic job over the years and the surplus here is over $300,000. A recent price increase to the menu will see this grow nicely, as well as the continued increase in weekly sales.”
The caf has seating for over 100 inside and out and enjoys a full on-licence. The business opens mall hours, but its external entrance means that it is able to open earlier and close later.
The Coffee Club is one of the best known and most successful franchise cafe companies. Founded in 1989, the company now boasts over 400 cafes globally with 65 in New Zealand.
The company has won many franchise awards through the years and prides itself on its core values of delivering “Good Food, Great Service and Excellent Coffee”. It was founded on family, friends and customer needs, the idea being to create a place that was more than just somewhere for people to meet for coffee — it would be more casual, comfortable yet sophisticated, stylish yet affordable.
The franchise system is highly developed and a new owner can expect professional training and strong, ongoing support from the head office.
The Westfield Manukau City cafe is certainly one of the jewels in the company’s crown. Being a consistent performer also makes the opportunity more bank-friendly than many other hospitality options, Giles says.
Lenders feel more comfortable when they know and understand a brand and what the cafes under it are capable of.
Giles says the business will appeal to anyone looking for a very solid and wellproven hospitality business. “There are always plenty of cafes and restaurants for sale but it’s rare to find such a solid option.”
A franchise business offers much in the way of comfort to new cafe buyers, he says. While some hospitality experience would be beneficial, full training and support is given.
“What is more important,” he says, “is your passion to offer outstanding service and your ability to manage and motivate a team. You will have picked up valuable business and life skills in your working life and many of these skills will be transferable.”
The business is available now for $980,000 plus stock.
