Colliers adds Taranaki rural expertise

-

Rural and agribusiness expert Dean File has joined the Colliers Taranaki office as a dedicated rural sales adviser as the company expands its rural presence across New Zealand.

File joins the commercial property team in New Plymouth, which is led by director Benet Carroll.

“I am hugely thrilled to have joined the Colliers team in Taranaki and it’s incredibly exciting to be able to work in a part of New Zealand that has such a prosperous rural sector,” File says.

James Nilsson, national director of rural & agribusiness at Colliers, says the addition of File ensures Colliers has the capacity to provide service for its clients in a key rural hub.

“Taranaki is one of New Zealand’s primary agriculture-producing regions, standing alongside Waikato, East Coast, Canterbury, and Southland,” Nilsson says.

“As such, Colliers Rural & Agribusiness is expanding its presence with local people to help locals profit from the best advice on selling rural property.”

Nilsson says File is perfectly suited to grow Colliers’ rural presence in the region. “Dean’s reputation as a straightforward, down to earth and hardworking broker, coupled with Colliers’ strong national and international brand, will ensure that we provide excellent support to all of our rural clients.”

Born in Gisborne, File moved to Taranaki in the 1980s where he entered the dairy industry as well as a stint in the police. He became a livestock buyer, setting up his own livestock company in the Horowhenua and Manawatu¯ area, adding rural real estate sales to his business in 2008.

File and his wife Lea returned to Taranaki in 2018. Lea will work as Dean’s executive assistant.

File has been involved in sporting and community initiatives and served as president of the Horowhenua Kapiti Rugby Union. He was named the Charles Monro Rugby Volunteer of the Year at NZ Rugby’s national awards in 2014.
