Tree strikes early train

A Wellington-bound train was struck by a tree yesterday morning from another moving slip after recent heavy rain. The incident happened between Plimmerton and Pukerua Bay. Passengers on the 5am service disembarked at Plimmerton and were also assessed as okay, a Metlink spokesman said. Kiwirail was assessing damage and, in the meantime, seven bus replacement services were running along the route.
