OPINIONS: TALL TRUCK TALES

-

Dean EVANS

Before I worked on DRIVEN, I did two years on Truck & Driver magazine, and once drove a 30 tonne B-train around Pukekohe for two laps, as most of us weren’t truck licensed. With the track closing next year, it was my first and still only full lap around there.

In 2011 I went to Detroit with Ford and got an F-250 to run around in. Ridiculously large (6.7m long), although the parking spaces were too. Even took it through the tunnel to Canada for lunch, but wished we had the right papers when we came back again to the US.

The first and only truck I've driven was the Ram 1500 Laramie. At almost six metres long, it hangs over most standard car parks, and over two metres high with the additional spotlights we had on ours, it didn't fit into most Auckland CBD parking buildings either.
