Freddie’s dead, long live Queen

-

Freddie Mercury is back from the grave in a song that’s been unearthed

33 years after it was recorded by the band Queen.

Face It Alone is a stark, defiant ballad, in which Mercury sings out against the iniquities of fate: “When something so near and dear to life explodes inside, you feel your soul is set on fire.”

Recorded in

1988 during the band's sessions for The Miracle ,a new reissue of the album will also feature some of the band's conversations in the studio.

“We’d kind of forgotten about this track,” said drummer Roger Taylor, “but there it was, this little gem. It’s wonderful, a real discovery. It’s a very passionate piece.”

It will be the rock group's first new song featuring Mercury to be released in more than eight years, following on from the 2014 Queen Forever album.
