The key aspect of today’s match is the return of Jahrome Hughes, after the Melbourne Storm playmaker missed the opening fortnight through injury. His appearance means Maguire can finally roll out his first-choice spine. At Headingley, the Kiwis need to make a statement. While Australia and England have looked slick and sharp, the New Zealanders have been grinding through the gears and know there are several cogs of improvement to come. They won’t take Ireland lightly, especially with Sydney Roosters’ dynamo Luke Keary directing their side around the park — but the Kiwis need an emphatic performance.
