OPINIONS: FAVOURITE TOY CARS

-

Dean EVANS

My 1970s Evel Knievel stunt cycle was cool, as was my one-per-week Matchbox my mum bought me, but my fave toy car was the one I pined for the longest: an RC Tamiya Frog. It taught so much about car set-up, and I still race RC today.

As a child, I watched lots of inappropriate 1970s cop shows. Weirdly, my favourite die cast was the decidedly unglamorous Nutmeg Poly (okay, brown) Corgi 1:36 1974 Buick Century sedan from Kojak, complete with Det Bobby Crocker hanging out the back window firing a handgun.

As the third child of four in my family, we had too many toy cars for me to have a specific favourite. But I do recall loving our road map rug and toy garage. Now, as a mother to a wheelsobsessed toddler, I’m on the lookout for something similar for him.
