VOLUNTEERS WANTED FOR RESEARCH INTO A NEW GOUT MEDICATION

The University of Auckland, in conjunctio­n with Arthrosi Theraputic­s Inc, are recruiting a study for people who are experienci­ng gout and have a gouty tophus. A tophus develops when crystals of urate build up around your joints.

A tophus looks like a swollen lump under the skin of your hands or feet.

The study is using a new medication to improve the treatment for people with severe gout. It involves regular visits to the Clinical Research Centre in Grafton over an 8 month period.

Study staff are available to advise and support your while you are in the study. Medication­s to treat gout and prevent flares are provided free of charge. Travel costs will be paid and free parking is available.

If you live in Auckland, are aged over 18 years, have gout with at least one tophus on your hands, wrists, feet or ankles and would be interested in taking part in this study, please contact us.
