A schoolboy was seriously injured after being hit by a car on March 17. The incident took place on Rathgar Rd near St Dominic’s Catholic College at about 3.30pm. The 10-year-old boy was taken to Starship Hospital, in a stable condition.

HOUSE EXPLOSION

A man was injured following an explosion at a house in west Auckland. The incident occurred about 12.20pm on March 17 at a house in Timandra Place, Massey. The man was treated for burns at an Accident and Emergency clinic and at the time was in a stable condition. The road was cordoned off while a scene investigat­ion took place. Officers would speak to the man at a later date.

EMERGENCY LANDING

The police Eagle helicopter made an emergency landing in a suburban Auckland park after crew felt unusual vibrations on March 17. Crew landed the chopper in Riversdale Reserve, Avondale as per their emergency procedures. The helicopter is now undergoing a mechanical inspection and the crew has resumed work in a replacemen­t aircraft.

RESCUE MISSION

The Auckland rescue helicopter crew were tasked to a car rollover at Muriwai Beach on March 18. En route crew were told one patient was injured. Ambulance staff located the vehicle along Rimmer Rd, Helensvill­e, and determined the patient was in moderate condition. The helicopter was stood down.

FOOTBALL SEMIFINALS

Waitakere United will travel to Team Wellington on March 26 for the semifinals in the national football premiershi­p. A win would put them into the final against the winner of Auckland City and Hawke’s Bay United on March 25. Live coverage from 4.30pm on Sky Sport.
