PINK RIBBON APPEAL

Breast Cancer Foundation NZ is asking Kiwis to support the Pink Ribbon Appeal on October 13 and 14. Collectors will be out with their pink buckets throughout the country raising money for vital research into new targeted treatments, medical equipment for hospitals, life-saving awareness and education programmes. Money raised will also help support women going through breast cancer. Eight women every day are diagnosed, and one in nine will be diagnosed in their lifetime.

HALF A MILLION MEMBERS

Social media site Neighbourl­y has reached 500,000 members as of 6.56pm on October 4. Of those members, 22,436 are west Aucklander­s. The biggest neighbourh­oods in the west are Henderson with 2873 members, Avondale with 2288, Titirangi with 2432 and Massey with 2041. The company was started in 2014 and enables members to share advice, plan events, find employment and lost pets, discuss community issues and more.

MALL EXTENDS HOURS

Northwest Shopping Centre has extended some of its hours starting October 1. The mall will now be open from 9am-7pm on Fridays and 9am-6pm on Sundays.
