TODAY’S THOUGHT

-

We have now read the stories of Putiki people, if you were like me you would have found some things that resonated with you in your own life.

We each experience God differently, our way is not the only way. None of us have complete knowledge of God but the church when it gathers has shared knowledge that gives us a bigger picture. And when denominations gather together with very different theology and interpretation of God, we can be sure that if we listen to one another we can get an even bigger picture of God.

I often watch the river, it is a mass at times of bird life; seagulls, spoonbills, stilts, ducks and geese. All of them with very different needs, all of them searching for food in different ways, but they all have one thing in common, the water that brings them life. We all seek life, food for the journey, we all need hope and a future.

The one thing Christians all agree on is that this can only be found in God, our Heavenly Father, Jesus that awesome Son who brings us back into relationship with our Father and gives us eternal life, and the Holy Spirit who constantly nourishes us, counsels us, consoles us, shows us how we can be the witnesses God desires us to be. People’s stories of Jesus’ action in their lives are to be treasured, listened to and bring encouragement to others. Ordinary people with extraordinary faith. They bring blessings, listen to them with an open heart. praising and thanking to God for their lives. Elizabeth Body, St Paul’s Memorial Church, Te Anaua St, Putiki.
