Feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of everyday life? You're not alone. In a world where stress seems to be the new norm, it's no wonder that mental wellbeing challenges are on the rise.

But what if there was a way to take control of your mental fitness, much like your physical fitness, to build more resilience and improve your health and happiness?

The faculty of experts at the professional health coach training institute PREKURE, share with us their top 7 evidence-based strategies for you to learn how to thrive, not just survive.

1 Master Self-talk:

Pay attention to your inner dialogue and challenge any negative or limiting beliefs that tell you you're not worthy enough. Replace them with positive affirmations that uplift, empower you and remind you of your worth.

2 Cultivate Joy:

Make time for the things that bring you joy to help shift your perspective and foster a more positive outlook on life. Whether it's spending quality time with family and friends, pursuing a hobby, or simply enjoying nature.

3 Embrace Cold:

While it may sound daunting, exposing your body to cold water can have powerful benefits.

Try taking a cold shower to stimulate circulation, boost immunity, and build mental resilience.

4 Breathe Deep:

Take a moment to pause and focus on your breath. Try breathing just through your nose, and you’ll turn off your ‘fight or flight' nervous system, which is what stresses us out.

5 Sleep Well:

Quality sleep is crucial for mental wellbeing, yet it's often overlooked in our hectic schedules. Create a relaxing bedtime routine, establish a consistent sleep schedule, and optimise your sleep environment to enable your brain to undergo its critical repair and rewiring functions.

6 Move More:

Movement isn't just good for your body, it's also essential for your mental wellbeing. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise each day, whether that’s a walk, yoga class, or a dance session in your living room. Find activities that you actually enjoy and commit to them daily.

7 Eat Better:

Incorporate more whole, unprocessed foods into your diet. Choose colourful fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats to nourish your brain and support optimal mental function.
