Lyric Singers in last show

Whanganui Midweek - - COMMUNITY LINK - Lift Your Voices,

Lyric Singers’ end of year con­cert Lift Your Voices ,on Satur­day No­vem­ber 24, will fea­ture teenage vi­o­lin­ist Xavier Gre­gory as a guest artist.

Xavier be­gan play­ing the vi­o­lin at a young age and en­joys busk­ing to sup­ple­ment the funds he re­quires to be­come a pi­lot. For the past cou­ple of months, Xavier has been study­ing hard for his Cam­bridge ex­ams. For this con­cert, Xavier will play Ashokan Farewell, by Jay Un­gar. He will be ac­com­pa­nied on the pi­ano by Lisa Boessenkool. Lisa has ac­com­pa­nied the choir for the past eight years. She started learn­ing pi­ano at age six and the flute at nine.

Com­bin­ing her love of mu­sic and pas­sion for work­ing with chil­dren, Lisa teaches pi­ano and flute pri­vately, coach­ing cham­ber mu­sic groups and co-con­duct­ing the Schola Sacra Youth Cho­rus. Other guest artists for the con­cert will be the sk­if­fle/pop band Hot Potato as well as Marie Brooks and Rosie Ren­dell singing the vo­cal duet Nella Fan­ta­sia. Rosie will also sing a solo. Artist brack­ets will be in­ter­spersed by the choir singing a se­lec­tion of mu­sic from their reper­toire. This is a char­ity con­cert, rais­ing funds for Women’s Refuge.
