Hirsute to hairless for cancer cash

- By PAUL BROOKS

Three brave ANZ Bank Whanganui staff members threw caution and tresses to the wind to raise money for the Cancer Society local branch.

Last Thursday, barber Sam Monaghan set up shop in the ANZ lobby, surrounded by spectators, to shave the heads of Scott Carson, Regional Manager, and Senior Personal Bankers Andrea Hickling and Toby Wells.

ANZ staff are proud supporters of the Cancer Society, but these three certainly showed a strong commitment. Both Scott and Toby were bearded until Sam’s razor rendered them clean shaven.

Together Scott, Andrea and Toby raised about $3800 for their efforts. This is as well as raffles, a movie night and a Friday sausage sizzle in Majestic Square.
