Use your vote — influence the world
Today it can seem that everyone is constantly telling us what to do, how we should act and what we should be. As the local body elections roll around again we will hear a lot about who we should vote for and why. Most of us will not vote at all and will blindly go about our regular days and know very little about the people who are willing to put their hand up for the elections.
At a time when people seem to feel less confident about the future, it might do us all good to feel we have a say, rather than complain for the next few years
about what should have been done. It can all be quite depressing as I hear people say why vote? Nobody really listens anyway, and it is just a waste of my time. Or is it? Feeling powerless to help anything change can leave us feeling small and inconspicuous.
Feeling small, timid, uncertain or lacking inspiration often affects many of us. My angels remind me that maybe we are meant to do things that scare us, so that we can build the world we live in and make it a better place. They remind me that it is only when we take a leap that the net will appear, only then will we feel the wonder and spontaneous delight the experience reveals.
The alternative is most unpleasant and could bring the sense of living in a black hole and feeling overwhelmed. We all know from the media and the governments attention to mental health, that this can lead to depression — which if not attended to can lead to feeling overwhelmed and remaining like this permanently. If this is you, get help, reach out to those who love you even if it feels like they don’t.
I have seen storms in my life. However, I do not change my attitude based on what other people say. I listen and consider if this is a lesson that my life needs or is this connected to their journey? It is like grooming our personalities to be the best we can, helping us change our world for the better. As Norman Vincent Peale so wisely said, “Change your thoughts and you change your world.”
