Call for long-term plan submissions
Whanganui District Council’s general manager – corporate, Stephanie Macdonald-Rose, says consultation on Whanganui District Council’s draft Long-Term Plan 2021-2031 is going well.
“We’ve had an excellent response to our engagement events and we’re getting good numbers of submissions,” she says.
“A full day was spent at the Extravaganza Fair at Kowhai Park on Saturday (17 April) and our Youth Committee members were a real asset there, discussing the long-term plan and, in particular, a proposal to invest in youth places and spaces. They did a fantastic job of getting people to make submissions on the day.
“This Saturday (24 April) the council will have a stall at the Whanganui River Markets on Taupo Quay, focusing on a long-term plan proposal to develop and implement a coastal plan. Do come down and see us – we want as many people as possible to connect with the council and have their say,” Stephanie Macdonald-Rose says. Feedback is wanted on four important issues for Whanganui – the Whanganui velodrome project, youth places and spaces development, the Davis Library extension and the establishment of a coastal plan.
All information, including the consultation document, submission forms and supporting documentation is available at: www.whanganui.govt.nz/long-term-plan Submissions close at 5.00pm on Friday, 30 April 2021. Let's Connect at Whanganui River Markets! Come down to the Whanganui River Markets this Saturday, 24 April 2021 to talk to us about the proposal to develop and implement a broad coastal plan for Whanganui. We’re proposing coastal planning to protect and restore our coastal areas from erosion, ecological degradation and the impacts of climate change.
