INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER DAY | 5th Dec

-

Through the International Volunteer Day campaign on 5 December 2021, people can be inspired to Volunteer now for our common future. Let’s encourage everyone, including decision-makers and citizens, to get involved in solving problems for people and the planet. Volunteers engage communities and help build a better and safer future for us all.

Covid has created a new world where uncertainty is behind every corner; 1pm Government announcements is a must, and leaving home without a mask is a no no.. Human beings are adaptable creatures and that’s exactly what we have had to do… adapt.

Volunteer Whanganui’s vision and mission statement are as follows: Vision

Supporting volunteers within the community, where volunteering is recognised and valued.

Mission

To support volunteers working in the community who choose to work of their own free will, unpaid and for the benefit of the region.

Covid has thrown up all sorts of obstacles, but we are adapting. We still have 60 roles available with just a few tweaks to ensure the safety of others. You need to now book an appointment to come and see us and wear a mask unless you have an exemption. At present the Whanganui Volunteer Centre supports 102 not-for-profit organisations in our Community, has 1223 active volunteers. Please check out our website for more details www.volunteerwhanganui. org.nz . The beauty with supporting so many different organisations is it creates a huge variety of positions available.

We are celebrating International Volunteer Day 2021 with a BBQ lunch at Kowhai Park Monday 6th December for all volunteers. If you wish to join us please email whanganuivolunteercentre@xtra. co.nz or ph 06 3479430

Take care and be kind
