Artists’ works on show at Yellow House
Have a cuppa while viewing creations
On display at the Yellow House, on the corner of Dublin and Pitt Sts, is an exhibition of work by the Brunswick Collective. Keeley Eastwood (printmaking), Brad Mosen (photography) and Jude Stretton (printmaking) have adorned the walls with their art, making the Yellow House the perfect place to head for your Christmas coffee catchups and to view some animal/nature/ landscape/nostalgia-themed art. Maybe even to look for some artthemed Christmas gifts if you have some art lovers in your life and are running late with your Christmas shopping!
“Cafe manager Jess Jonker and her lovely team have been so supportive to our group over the years, providing the space and means for our exhibitions and helping us make valuable art sales. We love the cafe and the welcoming atmosphere she and her team work so hard to create — and this lends so well to exhibiting and selling our art,” says Keeley.
Framed and unframed original handmade drypoint, collagraph, linocut and woodcut prints, photography and canvasses; premium fine art reproduction prints and an assortment of art gift cards are available.
Keeley is a Yorkshire-born, Whanganui-based artist who enjoys playing with the myriad forms of printmaking. She has especially come to enjoy creating drypoint prints and gel plate monoprints and handcolouring them using other mediums,
such as coloured pencil and metallics.
Other printmaking techniques she has tried her hand at so far include collagraph, woodcut and linocut.
Artistic inspiration for Keeley includes animal and human companions, nature, human emotion/states of being, fairytales and mythology. She finds the native New Zealand kunekune pig inspirational, both in terms of their characterful looks and their beautiful
natures.
Keeley is a “featured artist” in the Dec/Jan issue of Aotearoa Artist: The New Zealand Artists Magazine. In 2022, she is looking to launch her own artfocused website.
From an early age, following in his maternal grandfather’s footsteps, Whanganui-born Brad Mosen has had a love for photography. His inspirations include nature, the natural landscape and nostalgia and through his
work he strives to capture their beauty and essence. Brad shows and sells his work through regular exhibitions and events, often with Brunswick Art Collective and through inquiries to his Brad Mosen Photography and the Brunswick Art Collective’s Facebook pages.
Jude Stretton was born in Hunterville, grew up mainly in Bulls and lived in Whanganui for around 16 years before relocating to Picton
in 2017. Jude resided in Whanganui when Brunswick Art Collective was formed and continues to be an active member. She takes a keen interest in its endeavours and contributes artworks for its exhibitions and events. Jude’s interests lie in music, French culture, birdlife and nature and she would like to develop these themes in future work.
The exhibition runs until the end of the month.
