Technology made easy for seniors

-

Learning how to use a smartphone is much like learning to drive a car. There are basic rules, like starting the car, keep left and don’t run over pedestrians. You have to choose which model you want to drive, learn the idiosyncrasies of that model, and explore some of the special features that make driving so much safer and easier.

Then there’s the background stuff like learning road rules, licensing, warrants of fitness etc. You learn most of this, one person to one instructor.

It can be quite daunting but you know that to have independence, to take that special date to somewhere cool, to drive to work, you must do it. And it changes your life.

Learning to drive is an individual experience too. Imagine trying to do it in a class of five or 10 other people. Apart from the impracticalities, you’d all learn different things at different rates and probably crash and burn. Totally impossible.

Well, that’s pretty much like when learning how to use a smartphone and digital technology. Like driving, there are so many variables. They have different engines (operating systems) and special features, different rules to follow. Then there are the licences and plans. That’s why at SeniorNet we now do much of our smartphone, tablet, and computer tuition on a one-to-one basis. It’s easier, quicker, tailored to the individual, and far, far more effective.

Once you learn the basics you can go on to explore the many features that can, change your life for the better. But those first steps? Come and see us at SeniorNet.

We have friendly tutors your age, who understand your needs, and can lead you to learn in the most effective way, and probably save you money by guiding you to the right device for you.
