TO THE EDITOR Propaganda

Whangarei Report - - Opinion - _ Don Nightingale Glenbervie

It will be interesting to see how many people have fallen for Mr Key’s propaganda to change our flag.

Strange that the fern flag started appearing on New Zealand products overseas, even before the first referendum. But maybe that was just a coincidence. Another coincidence that the blue field on Mr Key’s flag is the same as the National Party blue and the fern looks more like a white feather. We all know what that represents. I would like to think that most Kiwis will follow Winston’s election slogan, and “Send Key a message”. There is no need to change our flag. Sure it looks similar to the Aussies. But so what? Like our troops they have proudly stood side by side for over 100 years. What galls me is the manner in which this referendum has been forced on us. We weren’t asked if we wanted a change; we were told to make a choice. This has not been a democratic process, rather a dictatorial decree.

What next, change our national anthem? After all who trusts God anymore?

Then we can become a republic presided over by President Key. God protect New Zealand and keep our flag flying high.
