Clooneys’ countdown GEORGE & AMAL’S $1.4 MILLION LUXURY BIRTH!

The couple pre pare to welcome their twin boy and girl

-

It took him almost half a century to realise he wants children, but with his wife Amal due to give birth in just two months, George Clooney is brimming with excitement at the impending arrival of his twin son and daughter.

Now in her final trimester, high-flying human rights lawyer Amal, 39, has tied up the loose ends at work while her Hollywood heavyweight husband, 55, has packed the couple’s hospital bags in case of an early labour, as is often the case with multiple births.

Clooney family insiders tell Woman’s Day that George and Amal – last week seen taking a relaxing stroll on their estate in the English countryside – are leaving nothing to chance when it comes to the arrival of their first children. And the actor is sparing no expense to ensure his twins’ arrival into the world is perfect.

George has dug deep to provide Amal with the most luxurious delivery experience money can buy, booking the entire Kensington Wing at London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for the pampered and very private birth. With 14 suites each costing $7500 a night – and Amal’s hospital stay likely to last up to a week – the accommodation alone will cost the couple around $735,000.

To ensure she is relaxed and comfortable when the time comes for her little ones to be born, Amal is flying in two Los Angeles-based doulas or “birth companions”, who charge $2200 each. That, coupled with first-class flights, five-star accommodation and expenses, will set the couple back a cool $33,000.

Simply the best

“Amal is also splashing out on her favourite masseuse from Italy, who she swears by and has already booked in, to ensure she’s available to massage her before and after the delivery to keep her as relaxed as possible,” a close Clooney source tells us.

The massage therapist – who charges $5500 plus flights and expenses – is just one of a team of very wellpaid experts who’ll be on hand at the million-dollar birth. The couple have two top nannies at the ready – one for each twin – costing $220,000 a year a piece as well.

George has also called in a special favour from former royal maternity nurse Rachel Waddilove, asking her to come out of retirement for six weeks to help the couple adjust to parenthood.

When it comes to time in the hospital, George is doing all he can to ensure he and his wife feel right at home.

“He’s already put in requests to the personal chef who will be on hand to whip them up gourmet meals at the hospital, including their favourite tagliolini pasta with truffles from Venice,” our source reveals.

“George is flying in his favourite Italian chef, Riccardo de Pra, who catered their wedding, to oversee the pair’s dining needs and ensure everything is only the best, which is costing an extra $10,000.”

Of course, when you have a net worth of $237 million, it’s easy to splash the cash. And George and Amal, who last month bought a Manhattan apartment to house their growing family for a cool $122 million, aren’t likely to stop there. So far, the cost of their birth experience amounts to a dizzying $1.4 million – and we can only imagine their expenses will grow once the twins are born!

“If ever the term milliondollar baby was applicable, it’s for the mini Clooneys,” says our source. “George is making it clear money is no object when it comes to his wife and much-longedfor babies!”
