CHARLOTTE’S GRUFFALO PARTY
Kate and William might be busier than ever promoting their mental health work, but this week, they’ll be lavishing all their love and attention on their darling daughter Princess
Charlotte, as she celebrates her second birthday.
The adorable heiress turns two on May 2 and will be having a small birthday party at the family’s country home Anmer Hall in Norfolk, tells our royal insider. Charlotte is a fan of the
Gruffalo books, so the party will be mouse-themed in a nod to one of the cute characters.
A source says, “Charlotte’s second birthday celebrations are set to be very low-key, just like George’s parties always have been. There will be about 10 little guests, including friends from George’s nursery, and Zara Tindall’s daughter Mia.”
With help from her sister Pippa Middleton, Kate is baking a three-tier chocolate cake, which will be decorated with fondant Gruffalo characters. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are determined that their children are not spoilt, so have respectfully asked guests to not go overboard on the gifts.
“Kate and Wills just want a sense of normality for their kids when they’re young, so they always ask their friends and family to choose small gifts such as books or little toys,” explains the source.
Kate has arranged a “mouse hunt” around their property for her daughter’s big day, where parents and children will search for prizes, as well as a petting farm with baby rabbits.
“Kate’s also arranged for an entertainer to perform a bubble show and they’ll feast on mouse-shaped cheese sandwiches, cheese puffs, fresh berries picked from their grounds and of course, the home-made birthday cake.”
