Heartbroken Mel B and Heidi join forces
The embattled besties escape their exes
They’re both embroiled in bitter break-ups, but life was a beach for Mel B and Heidi Klum as the two gal pals enjoyed a day on the sand in Malibu last week.
In matching sundresses and identical grins, the two
America’sGotTalent judges appeared not to have a care in the world as they sat by the sea with their small army of children, plus Mel’s mum Andrea Brown and a few close friends.
The girly gathering comes as the Spice Girl gears up for an ugly court battle with her husband of 10 years, Stephen Belafonte, 42. She’s accused the film producer of domestic violence and cheating, while he claims the singer abused drugs and alcohol in front of her daughters, Phoenix, 18, Angel, 10, and Madison, six.
“I now know, better late than never, that there is so much more to life than finding someone who will want you,” an emotional Mel, 42, posted on social media last week. “Know your worth and never settle for less than you deserve.”
Meanwhile, new details have emerged surrounding Heidi’s separation from her boyfriend of three years, Vito Schnabel, with the revelation the art dealer was arrested for the “distribution and manufacture of a controlled substance”, allegedly magic mushrooms, at the Burning Man music festival in Nevada last month.
Vito, 31, has pleaded not guilty, but faces up to five years in prison if convicted. It’s thought the arrest was the final straw for Heidi, 44 – who’s mum to Leni, 13, Henry, 12, Johan, 10, and Lou, eight – after persistent rumours of his infidelity.
“Drugs are not something she tolerates, especially when it comes to her kids,” tells a source close to the Germanborn beauty. “She believed him when he said he was never under the influence when her kids were around, but she’s not prepared to give him another chance.”
Fortunately, Heidi’s found solace in her friendship with fellow single mum Mel, who was her date for the recent MTV Video Music Awards. The Spice Girl refers to the supermodel as her “partner in crime” and “big sister”.
“When Mel’s divorce got nasty, Heidi took her under her wing and even lent her money,” reveals an insider. “Mel raved that she’d be lost without her – she probably would’ve had a breakdown. Now it’s Mel’s turn to counsel Heidi through the bad blood.”
Meanwhile, there’s another single model on the America’s
GotTalent block, with the revelation last week that host Tyra Banks has broken up with her boyfriend of five years, photographer Erik Asla. The pair – who met on
Norway’sNextTopModel – reportedly struggled to make their relationship work after the arrival of son York – born via a surrogate 21 months ago – and Erik, 52, has now moved out of 43-year-old Tyra’s Los Angeles mansion.
“It came drama-free and they’re co-parenting their young son,” reports a source.
Regardless, with Tyra regularly appearing in both Mel and Heidi’s social media, we expect to see this trio of strong solo mums teaming up for a girl-power bonding session any day now!
