Pink cabbage rose

Step 1 Cut a 5.5cm circle of light pink felt. Then cut three strips, each measuring 13x3cm, and round off the corners. Finally, cut 14 large, teardropshaped petals, each 9cm long and 6cm at their widest point. From light green felt, cut one 5.5cm circle. Cut a piece of 18 gauge florist wire, measuring 20cm. Step 2 Take the 5.5cm circle of light pink felt and snip a small nick in the centre. Push the piece of florist wire about 1cm through. Using a low temp glue gun, put a small circle of glue in the middle of this circle and pinch it in place so it sticks to the wire and itself.

Step 3 Fold the long strips of felt in a concertina fashion and apply glue between every second fold. Glue the ends of each to each other so that it forms a circle. Hold this circle in the crook of your hand, then feed the long end of the florist wire through the middle of this circle so the flower's centre nestles in the heart of the circle. Affix with low-temp glue.

Step 4 Apply petals to the outside of this central piece in a circular fashion. Ensure the points of the teardrops meet at the base of the flower where the florist wire protrudes.

Step 5 Take the green felt circle and make a small nick in the centre. Feed this onto the end of the florist wire, until it is flush with the bottom of the flower. Adhere with glue.

Step 6 To finish with six roses, repeat the process twice more with light pink felt and three times with dark pink felt.
