As the butt-kicking leading lady in Ant-Man and the

Wasp, Evangeline Lilly is the first female to be in the title of a Marvel film – a role that’s left her feeling “both pressure and excitement”. “Women are having an incredible moment right now,” says say the 38-year-old star of Lost. “I’m “I’m just a building block, creating cre c something hopeful and an a hopefully inspiring too.” Evangeline has already made ma an impact on her seven-year-old se son Kahekili, who w was on set when he proclaimed, pr “I’m the Wasp!” His Hi mum says, “I felt so proud that th any little boy was pretending p to be a female superhero, s let alone my son. Usually, Mum is the least cool person.” The brunette beauty gives us u the skinny on the film.

How did you feel the first time in the suit?

Strong S and powerful! But the suits certainly look better than they move.

Did you amp up your usual workout routine?

I’ve always kept fit, but the physical feeds into the mental. When running in the frostcovered forest, I relished the feeling of digging in. It sent my mind into a Wasp space – no mercy.

What about your diet?

I dramatically cut back on salt. I love a plate of bacon or a bag of barbecue chips, but the swelling it induces is not so Wasp-y.

How does your character Hope, aka the Wasp, hold her own against Ant-Man, aka Scott?

Hope is calculating, driven and exact. Scott is emotional, fluid and relaxed. These differences are their combined strength. Right now, at a time where opposites can be seen as threatening, it’s beautiful to be able to show how opposites are crucial, vital and unstoppable.
