It’s over for good

Julia’s toxic $250 million divorce

-

Her marriage has had its ups and downs, but things seem to have hit an all-time low for Julia Roberts.

Less than two months after rumours suggested she and hubby Danny Moder were set to renew their vows, we hear the PrettyWoman actress is expected to make a divorce announcement any day now.

The 50-year-old has looked stressed and sickly thin in recent weeks, which those close to Julia say is a sure sign that all is not well in her 16-year marriage to Danny, 49.

“She’s struggled to keep her relationship from becoming another Hollywood divorce statistic for so long, but they’ve both realised it’s a lost cause,” a family insider tells

Woman’sDay. “Julia’s stressed out and she’s lost a ton of weight trying to hang on. She’s hardly eating and she’s losing sleep because she’s working so hard to keep her career afloat and support the family.

“Danny doesn’t earn a

fraction of what she makes and he’s not much help around the house either. While she’s up early making the kids’ lunches, he’s out surfing. She does the school and soccer runs too. Part of it is Julia being a control freak, wanting to do everything herself, and part of it is Danny being uninterested in pitching in. She’s decided she’d be better off as a single parent.”

Friends are whispering that the couple – parents to 13-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, and Henry, 11 – are quietly hashing out the details of who gets what in the split, with Julia worth around $250 million, compared to Danny’s $3 million. They also own three properties in Malibu, including their main seaside residence, plus luxury cars, and they reportedly don’t have a prenuptial agreement.

“This is going to be a costly divorce,” tells our insider. “Julia’s going to have to cough up half of what they own. It may not seem fair, but in California, everything is divided 50:50.

“It’s no secret they’ve been having problems. Danny knows how to push Julia’s buttons and vice versa, and they’ve had some blowout fights. For months, Danny’s been living in their second house across the road. They call it the ‘guesthouse’, but it’s really Danny’s bachelor pad. If they get a divorce, he’ll likely get that house, plus spousal support.”

Despite their problems, friends say the couple don’t want a messy, drawn-out divorce. Our insider adds, “Julia wants Danny to be a part of the kids’ lives, and they’ll likely agree that joint physical and legal custody is best. Neither of them wants to turn this into the Brad and Angelina saga.”

Julia, who was previously wed to singer Lyle Lovett, 60, met cameraman Danny on the set of the 2001 movie

TheMexican. They married in 2002 at the actress’ ranch in New Mexico.

“Julia put her family first and did only a film a year, and even got Danny the odd job here and there, but he would have felt emasculated being married to such a famous star as Julia,” says our insider. “Now that the kids are older and she’s working on back-to-back projects, she’s through apologising to Danny for being successful.

“Julia did everything she could to save this marriage, but it wasn’t enough. She and Danny always found something to argue about. Julia is tired from trying.”
