Woman’s Day (New Zealand)

ONE FINE DAY

in my Holden Equinox

-

Lights, camera… emergency nappy change? It’s not all #glamlife for Shortland Street star Jayden Daniels and his busy, young family. On weekends, his so-called weekday mobile office (AKA his Holden Equinox) transforms into a playroom and beach buggy. Here’s how Jayden fits more life into a typical Saturday.

AM 9 Flat white + beach + learning lines + backseat plug for my flat laptop battery (while I’m trying to edit videos) = my typical Saturday morning. Then I’m off to pick up Gigi from Les Mills and Kaewa from my auntie’s (Thanks Auntie!) so we can get some brunch. PM While Gigi makes a quick stop to drop off 1 some clothing from her label The Drop NZ for a photoshoot, Kaewa and I rock out to “Twinkle Twinkle” using Apple CarPlay*. He seems to like my singing… or maybe it’s the toys I have stashed around the car. PM Nothing says brunch like an emergency 12 nappy change! We use the boot of our Equinox – it’s seriously the perfect change table, even with the pram and baby bag in the back – before we get some food at Rude Boy Deli & Eatery in Freeman’s Bay.

“We use our Equinox’s heated car seats to keep the chips hot – you’re welcome!”

PM Weekends are for wanderlust. 2 Today, we’re taking those slightly-nerve-wracking West Coast roads for a family walk at Muriwai Beach – sun roof open, kids tunes on the stereo, autonomous emergency braking** for peace of mind... oh yeah, that’s how we roll. PM Let’s face it: the beach 5 walk is just an excuse to go for fish ‘n’ chips. We grab a big order from Fish & Friends in Titirangi to take to to a mate’s place for a shared dinner after an awesome day.
