Five years after calling off their engagement, Elizabeth Hurley and Shane Warne are preparing to pick up where they left off by giving their relationship another shot!
After reconnecting recently in the UK, the brunette beauty, 53, and the cricketing great, 49, have been publicly flirting on Instagram. Those close to the couple reveal they’re also swapping dozens of daily texts and making marathon phone calls.
“Liz and Shane ended things because the distance became too difficult, but that doesn’t mean the feelings weren’t there,” a mutual friend tells Woman’s Day. “They had an amazing connection and that’s never totally gone away. Shane has always carried a torch for Liz. She was the one that got away and it seems like she feels the same.”
They appeared to confirm the rumours in emotional interviews in the British press last week, with ladies’ man Shane gushing, “I’ve never got along with a female or a partner or anyone as good as I got along with her.” Asked if there was a chance of reconciliation, he hinted, “Who knows what will happen down the track?” In his new autobiography, No
Spin, the father-of-three adds, “I can honestly say that the years I had with Elizabeth were the happiest of my life. I was more in love with her than I ever realised I could be. We were good for each other and I know that I miss the love we had.”

Powers actress bemoans the fact she’s been single for three years, refers to Shane as “my last proper boyfriend” and adds that she hasn’t introduced any other men to her son Damian, 16, as “there’s no point”.
Elizabeth and Shane were first photographed kissing in 2010, forcing the Brit babe to confess her four-year marriage to businessman Arun Nayar was on the rocks and putting the final nail in the coffin for the sporting legend’s on-off relationship with his wife of 10 years, Simone Callahan.
They got engaged the next year but split in 2013, with Shane admitting he grew jealous of Elizabeth’s ex-boyfriend Hugh Grant, who’d often sleep over at her place. “I got jumpy,” he confesses. “They saw each other more when I wasn’t around.”
But friends insist Shane and Elizabeth are ready to rekindle that flame, with an insider telling us, “Liz and Shane were great together and totally in love, but they just weren’t in the right place in their lives for it to work out. Now it seems like the timing could finally be right.”
