NEW HEARTBREAK OPRAH SAYS GOODBYE

-

It was a tearful Thanksgiving for Oprah Winfrey, whose mother Vernita Lee died on the November 22 holiday at the age of 83.

But the media mogul is determined to stay positive through this tough time, saying, “It gives our family great comfort knowing she lived a good life and is now at peace.”

Vernita was only a teenager when she gave birth to Oprah in Mississippi in 1954 and the pair had a famously distant relationship before reconnecting as the chat-show queen’s star began to rise.

In recent years, they were closer than ever, with the TV icon, 64, reportedly gifting her mum more than $7000 every month and publicly saying, “Thank you to my mother Vernita Lee for doing the best she knew and could do in raising me.”
