Happy at last, this lady’s ready to call it quits for kids
Stepping out on the red carpet at the Golden Globes in a jaw-dropping lilac gown with her adoring fiancé Christian Carino in tow, all eyes were on the woman of the moment, Lady Gaga. The pint-sized singer is riding the highest wave of her career thanks to her highly acclaimed performance in A Star is Born, and after a roller-coaster decade, she’s never been happier – both professionally and personally. “Gaga is on a total high,” a source close to the star tells Woman’s Day. “She’s worked so hard and dreamed so big, and finally it’s all happening for her. She almost has to pinch herself.” And while the 32-year-old was disappointed at missing out on the Best Actress gong at the Globes, which she’d been widely expected to win, friends say she already has her eye firmly on the next chapter. Gaga might be inundated with offers of film roles, but the broody star has made the shock decision to step out of the limelight to focus on starting a family with Christian. “She has never been so in demand,” tells our source. “Her phone has been ringing off the hook with movie offers – everything from serious dramas to period pieces to rom-coms and even a superhero movie. But Gaga is in no rush to cash in on her success. In fact, she says the only thing she wants right now is to become a mum. She and Christian are both utterly desperate to be parents together.” The source says the flamboyant star, who found overnight success with her first album 10 years ago, is keenly aware that many women in Hollywood feel forced to put off having children because of their careers. she’s confident she’ll still be in demand after becoming a mother. And she has the full support of her talent agent beau Christian, 50, who already has a teenage daughter, Bella.
Indeed, the pair put on a loved-up display at the starstudded event last week, holding hands and sharing a smooch for the cameras. Later in the evening, Christian even shared a cosy photo of his fiancée snuggling in bed with her award for Best Song.
Now speculation is mounting over when and where they’ll wed. While some reports suggest they have their hearts set on a lavish $5 million wedding extravaganza in Tuscany, our source says they’re having second thoughts.
“They were going to have a big, spectacular bash, but now they are thinking about something much more low-key. Of course, it will be super-stylish, but it may just be for family and a few friends, and very, very private. Gaga has decided she likes the idea of getting married in secret and putting out a single wedding photo on Instagram.”
Whatever they decide, there’s no doubt Lady Gaga believes she’s found the one in Christian.
“He loves to make her happy and he is so proud of her success,” says another source. “The amazing thing about their relationship is that he understands her work and career, and he is there to guide her.
“She trusts him fully and feels totally secure around him. They don’t get a lot of private time, but when they do, they love to have romantic getaways in fancy hotels.”

While she’s deliriously happy now, Lady Gaga has made no secret of her past struggles. She was left heartbroken in 2016 when her engagement to actor Taylor Kinney ended and she’s admitted to periods of depression. In her 2017 documentary FiveFootTwo, she revealed she was battling the chronic-pain condition fibromyalgia.
As Gaga explained, the lasting effects of a sexual assault years earlier had manifested physically. “When something traumatic happens, your brain disconnects so that it can handle it,” she said. “But it stays in your body, in your tissues, physically in you.”
But thankfully, the star is back to her best and just last week confessed that filming AStarisBorn alongside director Bradley Cooper had been “transformative”.
“As an artist, there’s always a feeling of, ‘Am I good enough? Am I making something honest? Am I making something true?’ There is a sort of stagnant sadness in me, wondering if I’m enough. Today I did not see that. I saw something different. I saw a clarity. I saw a truth.”
And as she heads into a lucrative stint performing in Las Vegas amid continued talk of taking home an Oscar next month, it seems that with Christian by her side, Lady Gaga really does have it all.
“She says he makes her happier than anyone she has ever known,” tells our source. “That’s why she knows they are doing the right thing getting married and having babies. She just can’t wait to welcome their own little monsters!”
