He’s said it’s his “life plan” to become a dad – and Sam Smith got in plenty of practice on a sweet trip to Queenstown last week!
Playing a hands-on uncle with his child charge in a front-pack, the broody “Stay with Me” singer, 26, shared an ice cream with baby Benny, the son of his manager Jack Street and one of Sam’s best mates, Kiwi model Emma Champtaloup. The group later flew to Auckland, where they chartered a small plane to take them to a private island.
Openly gay but currently single, Sam has confessed, “I want kids so bad. I just feel it’s nature’s way of reminding you that it’s not about you – it makes you not selfish.” Asked if he wants to adopt or have a child via a surrogate, he says, “I might do both. When I went to Iraq to the [refugee] camps, it made me want to adopt.”
