Woman’s Day (New Zealand)

Editor’s letter

- SIDO KITCHIN EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, WOMAN’S DAY

What a day for a wedding! Auckland was bathed in sunshine for the stunning ceremony of All Black great Beauden Barrett and his beautiful bride Hannah Laity, as Mother Nature blessed the young couple with such a magical day. Every bride prays for sun, but this had to be the most amazing day of summer.

Dubbed “the wedding of the year” in the build-up, the gorgeous young couple’s nuptials lived up to the hype with an exquisite celebration on Rakino Island, way up high on green hills overlooking the sparkling blue waters of the Hauraki Gulf. You couldn’t have asked for a more lovely setting. I was blown away.

Our writer on the ground Kelly Bertrand has had the honour of attending lots of weddings for Woman’sDay, but she says she’s never seen such a spectacular event. Still, the picture-perfect day will be most remembered for the love and romance that surrounded Beauden and Hannah. In a sea of friends and family, the couple really only had eyes for each other.

At Woman’sDay, we’re extremely grateful that Beauden and Hannah were happy to share their celebration with our readers. The popular and charismatic All Black hugely values the support he gets from his fans – and so does his new wife. They were delighted to let you be a part of the festivities in this way.

Like many of you, I’m a huge Beauden fan. He’s one of New Zealand’s greatest sportsmen – but he remains that down-to-earth guy from Taranaki. That smile when he scores a try is just magic and so familiar to millions of Kiwis. On his wedding day, I swear that grin was even wider. The man oozes positivity and I love that he’s proud to publicly declare that he wants to grow old smiling and laughing with his beloved Hannah.

We wish Mr and Mrs Barrett a lifetime of love and happiness.

Enjoy this special issue.
