Woman’s Day (New Zealand)

Editor’s letter

- EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, WOMAN’S DAY SIDO KITCHIN

Oh, baby! I’m clucky at the best of times and this week Woman’s Day has made me positively broody. While the door is shut on me being a mum again (at least I think so!), I’m lucky to have wee cherubs in the wider family, so I still get lovely opportunities for coos and squeezes, and little nibbles on chubby thighs.

Fortunately, in my job I get to share in the joy of baby stories and the MacDonalds (page 28) have to o be one of the most extraordinary families we’ve got to know so far. We introduced the Timaru quads, Hudson, Molly, Indie and Quinn, back in November when they were tiny three-month-olds. But now they’re six months and they have grown so much – in size and personality!

I’m sure you’ll agree Mum and Dad, Kendall and Josh, are doing a wonderful job of raising their beautiful babies. It’s a busy household, but the MacDonalds are blissfully happy.

Back in early December, we had a story all ready to run on the pregnancy of Kaiora Tipene with husband Francis – the lovable stars of The Casketeers. But we got an urgent call to say, “Stop the presses!” Their fifth son, Francis, had decided to arrive over a month early. This issue (page 34), we are delighted to say “kia ora” to the beautiful boy who just couldn’t wait to meet his whanau.

Also this week, a fa favourite Woman’s Day co couple, Anika Moa and N Natasha Utting, announced the early arrival of their first daughter – a much-longedfor sister for her three big brothers. Marigold Tui Grace Utting-Moa – conceived via a sperm donor – arrived on their February wedding anniversary. Love and congratulations, guys!

And then there’s Lisa Tamati’s “Woman’s Day baby” on page 38. Now if Harry and Meghan’s baby – or babies, as predicted – could hurry up and arrive, my broodiness will be well and truly satisfied. Cluck, cluck!
