Love in full Bloom

Katy and Orlando’s Valentine’s engagement nt

-

Hot on the heels of Orlando Bloom’s romantic Valentine’s Day proposal, Katy Perry is planning “the most spectacular wedding of the year” and has told friends she might even be a pregnant bride when the big day comes!

“Orlando gave Katy the ultimate fairytale moment when he popped the big question,” an insider says of the couple’s shock engagement on February 14. “First, he did the gentlemanly thing and got permission from her parents for their daughter’s hand in marriage. Then he threw a surprise party and got all the guests to put on hoodies emblazoned with the initials ‘OK’, standing for Orlando and Katy.”

A source close to the pop star continues, “With everyone watching, he asked her to be his wife and she said yes right away. Everyone had been expecting this for a while, but Orlando pulled out all the stops to make it extra-special.”

Within days, the couple were sharing their news on social media, both posting the same snap of Katy flashing her staggering $7 million engagement ring against a background of red, heart-shaped helium balloons.

Bring it on!

Speaking exclusively to Woman’s Day, a friend of the loved-up duo reveals that Katy, 34, and Orlando, 42, are setting aside at least $14 million for their nuptials. “They’ve told their planners to dream big and let their imaginations run wild,” confides the pal. “Katy wants it to make Meghan Markle’s wedding look like it was done on the cheap!” Word has it Katy’s pastor parents Mary and Keith will be officiating, and while Victoria Beckham’s people have already reached out about making her wedding dress, Katy has her heart set on a sweeping Versace gown. It will be the second wedding for both the “Roar” hit-maker and her Hollywood heartthrob beau. Orlando’s three-year marriage to Aussie model Miranda Kerr, 35, with whom he shares son Flynn, eight, ended in 2014, while Katy’s heart was left in tatters when her first husband, comedian Russell Brand, 43, famously dumped her by text message in 2012 after 14 months of marriage.

“Russell has been in touch with Katy in recent days,” tells her friend. “He wished her all the best and every happiness for the future, and Miranda seems to be genuinely happy for Orlando too.”

While those close to the

couple – who famously got together at a Golden Globes after-party in 2016 and split briefly in 2017 – say they are clearly head over heels in love, not everything has been straightforward following their engagement.

The paper work

“They’ve already found themselves embroiled in prenup negotiations,” dishes our source. “Orlando finds the whole idea unromantic and doesn’t want to be discussing it so soon after a starry-eyed engagement, but Katy’s adamant.”

The “Firework” singer didn’t have a prenuptial arrangement when she married Russell and she considers herself lucky he didn’t fleece her of her estimated $480 million fortune, which dwarfs the $50 million in the Hobbit actor’s bank account.

“Katy has significantly more to lose than him if things go belly-up,” says our source. “It will be a relief for both of them when they get this out of the way and they can focus on their big day. They really are crazy about each other, and can’t wait to officially be husband and wife.”

And the couple’s friend adds, “They aren’t hung up on waiting until their wedding night to start trying for a family. Katy loves her booze, but she gave up alcohol weeks ago, before Orlando popped the question. She knew what was coming and she wants three kids.

“If she falls pregnant before the wedding, she will be over the moon. She can’t wait to see the looks on people’s faces when she walks down the aisle dressed all in white with a big belly bump!”
