Keep your kids engaged during their downtime
The school holidays are here! Need some activity ideas? Projects are a great way to keep the kids busy. Here are some ideas for a few to research, plan and create.
TAKE CARE!
Remember that if they’re outdoors, your children need to wear sunscreen and insect repellent. Be safe – if your kids are doing a project, they should wear gloves, eye protection, earmuffs, hard hats and enclosed footwear where required!
AGES 5-9
Help your child to ... Design a bedroom makeover – come up with ideas and draw a plan. Help build a sandpit. Plan, set up and plant a vege garden. Plan and build a swing or see-saw in the backyard. Make a chalkboard – paint a wall or board outside using chalk paint. Make a racing track in the backyard – lay out stones and pavers or dig the track into the ground. Create an artwork – use hands or paintbrushes to splatter and dribble paint over a canvas. Build a cardboard playhouse. Build an indoor fort with sheets and chairs.
AGES 10-13
Help them to: Plan and build a tree or playhouse. Wash the car for pocket money. Plan and create a vege garden. Build a game – perhaps giant jenga – or set up a basketball or netball hoop. Make a plant terrarium. Make someme soapsoap.
