The actress blind sides her shell shocked ex again
Two and a half years after their surprise split, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are not yet divorced, but they’re finally officially and legally single.
However, the news comes just as talk is growing that the Maleficent actress, 43, is deliberately dragging out court proceedings because she isn’t ready to move on from her 55-year-old ex – and though their separation has turned into one of the messiest in Hollywood history, there could still be a chance for Brangelina!
“This all came from Ange to begin with,” an insider reveals, speaking exclusively to Woman’s Day. “Brad was pretty blindsided when she filed divorce papers and it’s been total chaos ever since.
“Ange has been used to calling the shots and now she’s decided that she doesn’t want to leave things with Brad on such bad terms. It’s as if she’s realised that the grass isn’t greener and she shouldn’t have gotten so deep into this divorce.”
While the former redcarpet golden couple have come to a custody agreement, they are still in the process of dividing their assets. But this could be the first step towards them rebuilding their relationship – and becoming single once again may be just the second chance that Brad and Angelina need.
“This has given them a clean slate to start afresh,” alleges our insider. “They’re both ready to put this all behind them, but as far as Ange is concerned, this is her way of telling Brad that she would like to try to build their family again. Whether Brad feels the same way is a whole different story.”
The WarMachine actor has largely retreated from the spotlight in the wake of his split from Angelina, while she has fallen out of favour with the public.
Although it has taken the pair years to agree on any aspect of their divorce, there’s s one thing that they are both adamant about – they want to do what is best for their six children, Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 12, and 10-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
Friends say that after everything he’s been put through, Brad has no interest t in giving things with Angelina Angelin na another shot, but he is willing to work on their relationship for the benefit of the kids.
“Brad wants nothing more than for this divorce to be over and while Ange may have realised that she made a mistake, he doesn’t see how they could ever go back to how things were,” our insider claims. “But ut he is focused on being the he best dad he can be, and d they both know that they ey need to try to put their feelings aside and learn how w to be amicable co-parents.” ts.”
It may not be Brangelina 2.0, but this is easily the closest t the exes have got to being eing friendly in the past t couple of years. And nd that’s good enough h for Brad.
“It’s going to take ke a lot of work, but Brad ad and Ange are going to be in each other’s lives forever,” adds the insider. “If If they can start over and be civil, it will make things hings a whole lot easier for everybody.” y y
