Woman’s Day (New Zealand)

Editor’s letter

- SIDO KITCHIN EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, WOMAN’S DAY

It’s possibly slightly ridiculous to have celebrity crushes when one is my age, but I’m pretty certain that I won’t be the only middle-age woman getting a little flushed when they see Brad Pitt in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

I’ve been lucky enough to see a preview of Quentin Tarantino’s ode to 1960s Hollywood and it’s a masterpiece – and so is Brad. I’m heading back for another viewing this weekend.

To have two of my teen idols Brad and Leonardo DiCaprio sharing the same screen is a dream. Leo’s raw performance is Oscarnomination worthy, but it’s Brad who has stuck in my head. Sheesh, that man has charisma.

For those of us who can flashback 30 years to Mr Pitt’s hot-as-hell breakout role in Thelma&Louise in a heartbeat, well – sorry, I just lost my train of thought – um, yes, you’ll love him in this new flick. I don’t want to spoil the storyline, but there’s one lovely long scene involving a shirtless Brad fixing a TV antenna on a roof which actually had no bearing on the plot whatsoever. I’m pretty sure Tarantino filmed the scene just for those of us women

firmly in Team Brad. And for that I give thanks.

Speaking of gorgeous guys, this week we’ve launched our annual hunk search. For the past two years, thousands of Woman’sDay readers have voted for New Zealand’s Hottest Radio Hunk – with Roger Farrelly from The Rock and Gary McCormick from More FM both winning the honour. It won’t take a rocket scientist to work out why we’ve expanded the competition to include guys from the telly this year.

Whether it’s a sexy radio voice, a brilliant mind or a chiselled jaw that fries your burger, now is the time to nominate your favourite media star for our hardfought competition. Your pick could win the title of the Woman’sDay Bonds X-Temp Hottest Media Hunk for 2019. See the page opposite for details.

Have a great week, guys!
