How Chris won Dakota back
Whew! New York was sweltering under the summer sun last week – and Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson took the opportunity to show their relationship is back on the sizzle too!
The lovebirds took fans by surprise in June when it was revealed they’d called time on their cosy two-year relationship. But insiders now dish that the couple have reunited and, as our photographs show, they’re more in love than ever!

of Grey star Dakota, 29, caught a Rolling Stones concert in New Jersey before spending a sunsoaked weekend in The
Hamptons, frolicking in the sea and clearly enjoying each other’s company.
“They were like a pair of lovestruck teenagers, racing each other on the sand and splashing around in the waves,” the insider tells. “It’s obvious they missed each other a lot.”
Sources revealed back in June that part of the reason for their shock split was interference from Chris’ ex Gwyneth Paltrow and an insider close to the couple says Chris, desperate to win back Dakota, has ordered the Goop CEO to back off!
“Dakota ended things with Chris because she felt like the third wheel in his relationship with Gwyneth,” claims the source. “He was gutted and knew something had to change if he h was ever going i to be b able to move on and have a successful relationship with someone else.
“So Chris sat Gwyneth down and had a very frank conversation with her – telling her she needed to take a step back so Dakota didn’t feel like she was in competition with her.”
As the mother of his children, Apple, 15, and Moses, 13, Chris considers his relationship with Gwyneth to be “incredibly important”, but, adds the source, when he lost Dakota, he realised he needed to draw a line in the sand.
“Chris has said ‘no more’ to spending absolutely every family holiday together and he’s asked Gwyneth to stop making gushing comments about how they were ‘meant to be together’. He’s told her in no uncertain terms that she no longer comes first.”

Gwyneth, h 46 – who h announced d last week she is finally moving in with her husband Brad Falchuk, 48, after 11 months of marriage – was initially taken aback and tearful, alleges the insider. “But Chris insisted that she needed to understand how Dakota felt when Gwyneth constantly referred to the past and made in-jokes that made Dakota feel less than included.
“Gwyneth agreed to take a step back and follow Chris’ lead, insisting she just wants him to be happy, but she admitted she felt really down afterwards because it means their entire relationship dynamic will have to change.”
Following his showdown with Gwyneth, Chris set about winning Dakota back and another insider confirms they reconciled at the end of July.
Soon after, “Fix You” hitmaker Chris was Dakota’s plus-one at the wrap parties for her new movies Covers and The Peanut Butter Falcon.
“Chris confronting Gwyneth really y opened Dakota’s eyes,” tells our source. “It made her feel loved and she appreciated the lengths he’s gone to to make things work.”
The tension beween Dakota and Gwyneth, meanwhile, has relaxed so much that Gwyn and Brad joined Dakota and Chris last week for some Hamptons beach time!
“Dakota’s told pals Gwyneth and Chris’ relationship is now much healthier,” says our source. “It’s something she hopes will continue for the sake of their own future.”
