To outside eyes, Reese Witherspoon seems perfect. BigLittleLies – which Reese both starred in and was an executive producer for – the mum-of-three, 43, has teamed up with DarkPhoenix director Simon Kinberg to make sci-fi film Pyros.And Jim is furious!

“Reese has been spending a lot of time with Simon ahead of making this movie,” the insider explains. “Jim’s been flying into jealous rages over their growing friendship.

“It’s no secret that their marriage is not in a good place, so for Jim to watch Reese growing close to a charming film director has been a bitter pill to swallow. It’s caused a string of furious rows between them.”

Divorcé rcé Simon, Simon 46, 46 also bears a striking resemblance to Jim, 49, which has not gone unnoticed by the handsome talent agent who wed Reese in a romantic California ranch ceremony 2011.

“Reese joined Simon for a dinner meeting at the Polo Lounge in Beverly Hills last week and wore one of her favourite dresses,” spills our source. “Jim snapped and accused her not just of having a fling, but of using Simon to help her get out of their marriage.

“Reese has been incredibly unhappy for quite a while now but she’d never betray Jim, so for him to make such accusations was soul destroying.”

The actress – who shares her two eldest children Ava, Ava 19, and Deacon, 15, with first husband Ryan Phillippe, and youngest son Tennessee, six, with Jim – has turned to her close friend Jennifer Aniston for support.

Tug of love

Accoring to an insider, “Jen’s been trying to help Reese muster up the courage to walk away from the marriage, insisting that it will never get better if there’s no trust between them.

“But while she knows deep down there’s little she can do to salvage her marriage, Reese is still not ready to give up. She desperately wants to avoid a second divorce. She’s not sure that she could cope.”
