Jessica kicks 45kg in six months

Jessica Simpson has wowed the world with her 45kg weight loss. And now we know how she did it – eating cauliflowe­r and walking! “It’s been a lot of hard work,” the “Irresistib­le” singer confides. “Everything that I’ve been eating is mostly made with cauliflowe­r!” Fashion entreprene­ur Jessica, 39, was shocked when she weighed herself after giving birth to her third child – a daughter called Birdie – six months ago. She tipped the scales at 108kg and insiders say she “freaked out” that she would never be able to get back to her pre-baby weight. But after six months of dedicated dieting and exercise, the bubbly blonde posted a trim photo on social media, saying, “So proud to feel like myself again. Even when it felt impossible, I chose to work harder.” Jessica, who also has daughter Maxwell, seven, and son Ace, six, with husband of five years Eric Johnson, 40, says she piled on the pounds during her first two pregnancie­s but thought she had things under control when she first learned she was expecting baby number three. “When pregnant, I gain a lot ... I mean, a lot!” she quips. “But I didn’t expect to gain as much with my third. I thought I’d learned my lesson. But apparently that’s just the way God made me – very hungry and pregnant.”

During her pregnancy, an insider reveals, “She knew she was going to get bigger, so she made the most of it. On top of three large meals a day, she’d snack on sugary treats and junk food,” adding that Pop-Tarts, cinnamon rolls, gummy bears and sour cherries were her go-to treat.

But after giving birth in March, “She immediatel­y started eating healthily. She now avoids sugar at all costs or uses a substitute.”

Jessica had plenty of support in her quest to trim down and one of the first things she did after giving birth was hire a personal chef.

Instead of the calorie-laden foods she craved during pregnancy, she now piles her plate with vegetables, saying, “I discovered I really like cauliflowe­r. Who knew it could be a substitute for almost anything?”

Birdie was born by C-section, so it took a little longer for Jessica to get her fitness routine going. But once she was able to exercise, says another insider, she began walking 14,000 steps a day.

“And when she was ready to hit the gym,” adds the source, “she teamed up with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak. She ended up burning off around 1.8kg a week!

“Jessica’s thrilled with the way she looks and with all the positive comments she’s getting. She worked harder than ever and it paid off.”
