It’s full steam ahead to the altar
Now that Keanu Reeves has found the love of his life, he’s not planning on letting her
go! The JohnWick actor has apparently proposed to his nnew girlfriend Alexandra Grant – and shshe said “yes!”.
“He popped the question about a month ago over a cosy dinner at home – Italian takeout, candlelight and Frank Sinatra music,” spills a source close to the Hollywood A-lister, sharing that Keanu took Alexandra’s hand and told her that he cherished her.
“He said he wanted them to spend the rest of their lives together and then got down on one knee.”
Artist Alexandra, 46, was taken by surprise when the Speed Sp star, 55, then presented her with a vintage-inspired $300,000 engagement ring, “but she was overjoyed and happily accepted”.
Now the loved-up duo are planning to tie the knot in a top-secret wedding in Malibu next year.
“It’s going to be simple but romantic with about 70 guests,” dishes the source. “The ceremony will probably take place on the beach just as the sun is setting. Knowing Keanu, everything will be very intimate, laid-back and casual.
“Keanu hasn’t felt this way about anyone before. He’s mesmerised by Alexandra’s talent and intellect, and thinks she’s the warmest, kindest person he’s ever met. There’s no doubt in his mind that she’s the woman he’s meant to be with and he can’t wait to call her his wife.”
Insiders say the pair first met at a dinner party in 2009 and soon after they began working on a book together called Odeto Happiness. Keanu wrote the words and Alexandra did the drawings.
It was published two years later and the pair enjoyed working together so much, they went on to create two more books together.
At first, says the source, “Keanu was in awe of her. Not only was she beautiful butb she had an easy-going vibe that touched him to his core.”
Keanu didn’t want his feelings to interfere with their work but “the more time they spent together, the more their feelings grew. Finally, Keanu asked Alexandra on a dinner date and they had a wonderful time.”
The actor’s friends are thrilled to see him head over heels. The star’s last big love was actress Jennifer Syme, who gave birth to their stillborn daughter on Christmas Eve 1999. The heartbreak drove them apart and 15 months later Jennifer was killed in a car crash. It was a living nightmare that haunted Keanu for years.
“He wasn’t sure he was capable of loving again,” says the source. But Alexandra has “helped him heal”.
